The Maytags, a Des Moines favorite, reunite for Jasper Winery show

Founded in 2014, The Maytags quickly became one of Des Moines most popular local bands.
Their soulful Stax/Volt sound and catchy, original tunes by bandleader/lead vocalist/guitarist Dustin Smith drew crowds. Twice they made it to the main stage at the 80/35 festival, representing their hometown amid a lineup of national acts.

80/35 Postponed to Next Year, Organizers Announce New One-Day Festival

DES MOINES, Iowa One of the biggest summer events in Des Moines is being postponed until July 2022.
The Des Moines Music Coalition says it s out of an abundance of caution that they postpone the festival because of the COVID pandemic.
On Facebook, they say, A non-profit festival at 80/35’s scale takes an immense amount of advanced planning, volunteers, corporate sponsors, community grants, ticket sales and much more. With the level of uncertainty in all of those areas, and the desire to always deliver the maximum 80/35 experience for attendees, we felt postponing was the best choice to ensure we can come back even stronger in 2022. ....

Des Moines 80/35 music festival is off for the second year in a row because of COVID-19 concerns, the Des Moines Music Coalition announced on Tuesday.
The festival, which had been slated for July 9 and 10, typically draws upwards of 30,000 people to Des Moines Western Gateway Park. First held in 2008, it has featured performances by headliners such as the Flaming Lips, The Roots, Wu-Tang Clan and Modest Mouse. ....
