Beginning June 1, smoking and vaping in Falmouth will be further restricted in where and what tobacco products can be sold and by prohibiting smoking and vaping in workplaces and public places, including parks, town beaches and public streets. The board of health on March 15 voted for the revamped regulations that also include capping the number of tobacco retail permits in town at 35. The regulations state the intent is to gradually reduce the number of tobacco product sales permits in town by denying a permit holder a renewed license if it does not reapply within 60 days of the permit expiration. The board updated the regulations based on model regulations provided by the state and now mirror state law, Health Agent Scott McGann said. ....

FALMOUTH The Board of Health will hold a public hearing Feb. 22 during which members will vote whetherto revoke the stable permit for Smithfield Farm. The board voted Friday night to hold the hearing, which will start at 5 p.m. If the board decides to revoke the permit, no horses will be allowed on the property. In the meantime, the board asked that the farm s owner, Janice Foster, and employees fix the gate that would help secure the horses. The board also asked that Foster provide information including the farm s standard operating procedures, a detailed agreement for manure management, a staffing plan and a management plan for the number of horses. ....
The stables will remain full through the holidays at Smithfield Farm on Sandwich Road, East Falmouth. The farm is back on track to keep its horses, following a site visit from an engineer determining that the 65-year-old barn is structurally sound. Acting on an order from the Falmouth Board of Health, the farmâs owner, Janice Foster, hired Ronald Tiberi of FSL Associates in Boston to perform field measurements and assess the integrity of the buildingâs roof. His December 17 report, which the board discussed last night in a meeting on Zoom, determined that the barnâs joists and timber frame remain intact. ....
