A huge fire destroyed several hundreds shops at a market in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka, but there were no casualties as the blaze swept through the area in the early hours of Thursday, before stores opened.
Naturally, the question has arisen among the public as to why so many fire incidents have taken place within such a short period of time. The possibility of sabotage, as suspected by some quarters, cannot be ruled out entirely.
So this Eid, I pray for a fresh pair of eyes, and a reason to hope. Or at the very least (once the festivities are over and we return to life as it is) be able to hope for and demand better realities than the ones we’ve been dealt.
