Community members and local businesses are remembering Dexter Fergusson, the seven-year-old boy killed while sleeping in his bed after someone shot at his Riviera Beach home.No arrests have been made in that deadly shooting, which happened April 14. There is a barbecue being held from now until 8 p.m. at Cunningham Park in Riviera Beach, with all proceeds going to Dexter s family.The organization The Hungry Black Man, which supports Black-owned businesses, and the Center for Black Innovation are holding this event, which is called the Dexter Fergusson Day of Compassion. Several South Florida Black owned businesses are donating food for this event. People who attend are encouraged to make donations.These groups hold similar events whenever a child is killed from gun violence in South Florida. Dexter, who was known by his nickname Peanut , was just 7 years old when he and his mother were shot inside their home on April 14. His mother survived the shooting.
