Police have called for a change of management at a Dewsbury pub that broke Covid restrictions by allowing football fans to gather and watch a match on TV during lockdown.
Officers visited the Woodman Inn on Hartley Street in Batley Carr on the afternoon of Sunday, January 10 following an anonymous tip-off.
They found 11 people inside the pub and evidence that they had been drinking. No-one was wearing PPE and social distancing was not in place.
They were watching Leeds United play Crawley Town. Leeds lost 3-0.
One officer warned: “You are already suffering because of this lockdown.” ....

Rogue Kirklees landlords could face £30,000 fines for safety breaches


Rogue landlords in Kirklees are being warned about hefty fines
Kirklees Council has embraced housing enforcement legislation and beefed up its policy on housing-related offences.
That means private landlords who allow their properties to be overcrowded or who fail to comply with improvement notices could be slapped with a fine of up to £30,000.
Failing to install smoke alarms can lead to a £1,000 fine – and £5,000 for subsequent breaches.
Landlords who let private properties that are not energy efficient may also face fines of up to £5,000 per property.
And landlords must ensure national standards for electrical safety are met and that their rented properties are inspected and tested by a qualified and competent person every five years. ....
