in fact, it s going to keep building over the next few hours. something curious shep that we noticed. just before irene made landfall it had a track that took it right over ocracoke and right through kill devil hills. about two hours before it made landfall it took a jog to the left and almost going dew north. the official forecast still brings it out over the outer banks. have you got to wonder is there the steering current there that will bring it back out over the banks. the wind really starting to ramp up now or will it continue on that more inland path that rick reichmuth was talking about just a couple of minutes ago. if it stays on that path and it was one of the models that was predicting that. that would take it a lot closer to washington, d.c. than the projected path from the national hurricane center. so that update shep in about 45 minutes time is going to be very important for how people up and down the coast react to this. shepard: some people were making fun of me las
