The Independent PERRY TWP. – Deven Huwig was maybe 11 years old when she brought home her first piece of military memorabilia, a green, hard-shell Army helmet. Today, the Perry High School junior has up to 200 military collectibles that include about three-dozen uniform jackets, gas masks, boots, badges and helmets. The bulk of the items are from U.S. service branches, while some others made it to her bedroom turned showcase from Great Britain and Germany. The 16-year-old Deven said her love of military video games, which began as a grade-school kid, sparked her eventual interest in the military. She is a member of the Perry Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) and also plays the trumpet in the high school band. ....
