He will introduce this evenings guest speaker, michael denzil smith. Sean. Good evening. How is everybody. Its a privilege to introduce this young man. I told him i spent four hours reading his book. If you havent read it, you have to. Its every mans education. To that degree, to the further extent its actually a womans education as well because when you read his book and you see how rich his perspective is, you get an idea of what it looks like for folks in this generation to really have a global perspective on what it looks like for justice. Shooting that landed a fellow student in a hospital bed fighting for his life. He is a First Year Student from wisconsin. Reporter Police Report alexander melchert was shot when he stopped at a rest stop in dale city. Police arrested shawn a. John hopkins of westerville fired several shots at alexs vehicle. Both were standing outside his vehicle at the time of the shoo. In his vehicle and led them on a highspeed chase. Johnsons vehicle drove overrode spikes and crashed into interstate 71 northbound in richland county. As you can imagine this is a lot for a community to experience. Brown headed to a hospital in columbus to be with alex as soon as he heard the news. A lot of people knew him personally. I met his parents when they happened to alex. It is pretty shocking.
