Sharing the development, Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh said that the airport in Arunachal Pradesh s capital city of Itanagar will be functional by the end of the year, while a facility is also coming up at Nagaland s capital city of Kohima.
It should be noted that presently, Guwahati is the only State capital in the North East region to have an international airport.

SHILLONG: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leaving no stone unturned in promoting Northeast on the world map and bringing progress and prosperity in the region.
Addressing the 69th plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) here, Shah said, Whether it is natural beauty or rich cultural heritage, the region has immense potential to become a big tourism hub of our country.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired the 69th plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong, Meghalaya, today.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Union Minister for the Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh, who is the vice-chair of the Council, received the home minister at the helipad in Upper Shillong.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Governor Jagdish Mukhi and Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga gave the plenary a miss and were represented by their deputies, NEC officials said.

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], January 13 (ANI): For bamboo entrepreneurship and its infrastructure development in Jammu and Kashmir, the bamboo-development-council >North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) on Tuesday signed a pact with the Union Territory administration.
Lieutenant GovernorManoj Sinha said, The memorandum of understanding (MoU) marks the beginning of a new chapter and will create a new wave for overall development and harnessing of unexplored, untapped potential of the bamboo sector in Union Territory.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Manoj Sinha and Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh.
