The new development will include 44 single, or twin, homes and two apartment buildings, which was recommended for approval to the community development committee pending the park board s approval of a cash payment in lieu of the set aside green space requirement. The Bristlin First Addition development will require a $22,000 park dedication fee, according to Shawn King, public works director for Detroit Lakes. Park board members felt they should have had input in park fee discussion before the permit request was entertained by the city Planning Commission. ....
Detroit Lakes skateboarders forming association to build and improve area skatepark Members of the Detroit Lakes Skatepark Association are preparing to incorporate themselves as a non-profit organization to begin writing grants, and raising funds, to build a new skate park in Detroit Lakes. The group believes the new skatepark will cost about $600,000 in total, but will be taking some of the initial costs one-at-a-time, according to the association chairperson.
