A new nonprofit collaborative aimed at improving access to housing and financial stability services for Detroit has attracted $2.2 million in funding.
The six Detroit nonprofit members of the Detroit Housing Network will use the funding to strengthen and grow housing assistance programs, including mortgage and financial counseling, property tax foreclosure prevention, home repair assistance and assistance to low-income households seeking to become homeowners.
The city of Detroit provided $1.5 million in community development block grant funding as part of the stimulus allocation it received through the federal CARES Act. ....

Nonprofits create network to boost housing stability in Detroit

A group of six Detroit-based housing nonprofits are coming together to create the Detroit Housing Network, an effort to boost housing stability and affordable home ownership in the city.
The work, announced Thursday, is backed by a $2.2 million dollar investment from the city of Detroit and Rocket Community Fund. The aim is to grow resources for homeowners. Services will include: mortgage and financial counseling, property tax foreclosure prevention, home repair help, utility assistance and assistance for households with low incomes who want to become homeowners.
Residents will be able to apply for help through an online portal at detroithousingnetwork.org. The launch date for online enrollment has not been determined. ....
