Aparium, the Chicago-based group behind the Detroit Foundation Hotel, celebrates the grand opening of the 151-room Daxton Hotel in downtown Birmingham this month. “Daxton Hotel is a standout in Aparium Hotel Group’s portfolio,” says General Manager Aaron Black, “as it brings a modern vision of Birmingham luxury and incorporates some of the finest art, wellness, dining, and retail that hospitality can offer.”

Hotel’s vision stems from owner Mark Mitchell Aparium Hotel Group is readying the Daxton Hotel for its March opening. Located in Birmingham, Michigan, the hotel joins the ranks of acclaimed properties such as Kansas City’s Crossroads, the recently opened Hotel Haya, and the Detroit Foundation Hotel. The latest launch in Aparium’s pipeline of six openings through early 2022, the Daxton Hotel’s vision stems from owner Mark Mitchell. The lifelong metro Detroit area resident pledged to create a hotel product in his local community that sets a new cultural standard for hospitality. As a local hub, and travel destination, the Daxton Hotel features a minimalist-luxe design with saturated colors in spaces such as the chartreuse lobby, lavender parlors, and meetings spaces with original artwork on display.

Michigan Restaurants and Bars Can Apply for COVID-19 Relief Grants Starting Dec 15

Michigan restaurants and bars can apply for COVID-19 Relief grants starting Tuesday Michigan small businesses such as independent restaurants that are hurting due to the novel coronavirus crisis can apply starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 15, for up to $15,000 of a total of $10 million in relief from the Pure Michigan Small Business Relief Initiative. Grants will be awarded on a first-come basis, so make sure to apply early. The relief is part of CARES Act money secured by the state at the beginning of the pandemic. The CARES Act is scheduled to expire on Saturday, December 26, and thus far Congress has approved nothing to replace it. Among many stipulations, applicants must be in compliance with the state’s COVID-19 safety guidelines meaning defiant restaurants need not apply.
