When were you first informed about allegations of detainee abuse at this prison or elsewhere? who informed you and what actions did you take? i don t have a clear recollection about exactly when i first learned about the abuse in particular. i know we were getting referrals from the cia ig on various detainee matters and investigating those. i believe at some point some of the referrals began to include not just places like in afghanistan but also in iraq. we opened any number of investigations in response to those referrals. a lot of those investigations took a while. a lot of them may have come to fruition after i left the department in the very beginning of may of 2005. so you have no specific ....
