COCHRANE While discussing bids from suppliers to replace equipment at the Tim Horton Events Centre, town councillors launched into a debate about whether or not the town should favour submissions from local businesses, even if it’s a greater cost..
When Jason Boyer, director of community services, presented his recommendation to accept a bid of $240,000 (plus taxes) from Cimco to replace two new Aerco Benchmark 2.5 Million BTU Condensing Boilers at the Tim Horton Events Centre, it triggered questions about how an outside company could outbid a local business.
