An Enugu resident, Mr Cletus Nwebor has sued the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun and Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu over alleged police harassment in respect of a land matter already in court. The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13 Anambra State, AIG Tony Olofu, has ordered the return of the N500,000 extorted from one Mr Cletus Nwebor by some police officers over a matter pending in court. SaharaReporters reported on August 15, 2023, that a civil society organisation, Civil Rights Realisation and Advancement Network (CRRAN), had petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun over the alleged unlawful detention and extortion of N500,000 from Mr Nwebor by some police officers.
