Acadia Parish home destroyed in fire Iota Volunteer Fire Dept. and last updated 2021-02-12 18:14:29-05 ACADIA PARISH, La. - A home was destroyed following an early morning fire west of Iota. Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire around 3:30 a.m. on Friday, according to the Iota Volunteer Fire Department s Facebook page. Once on the scene, firefighters discovered a multi story residence completely engulfed in flames Des Cannes Highway (LA 98) was closed as the sheriff s office and fire departments responded to the structure fire and gas leak, according to a spokesperson for the Acadia Parish Sheriff s Office. Firefighters fought until dawn to get the fire under control and remained on scene extinguishing hot spots until around noon. Five surrounding fire departments assisted in extinguishing the fire. ....
