Four Louisville men were arrested early Tuesday morning after a high speed vehicle pursuit involving gunfire on and near Interstate 65 through Bartholomew and Jackson counties. The incident began at approximately 1 a.m. when Indiana State Police Trooper Taylor Cosby stopped a 2015 Kia car on northbound I-65 near the 67-mile marker in Bartholomew County for traveling in excess of 100 mph. After making contact with the occupants of the vehicle, Cosby obtained information that criminal activity was taking place and was assisted at the scene by Troopers Austin Straub and Taylor Ranshaw of the ISP Versailles Post. While the troopers were conducting their investigation at the scene, the driver of the vehicle, Derek J. Fajardo, placed the vehicle in drive and fled from the scene northbound onto I-65, striking Ranshaw as it fled the scene, who was later treated for minor injuries. ....

The incident began at 1 a.m. when troopers stopped a car on northbound I-65, near the 67-mile marker in Bartholomew County, for driving over 100 mph. While ISP was investigating, the driver, Derek J. Fajardo, placed the vehicle in gear and fled north. Authorities pursued the car as it exited onto State Road 46 at Columbus and then back onto southbound I-65. When the vehicle entered Jackson County, it struck a tire deflation device law enforcement had deployed and finally stopped just south of Seymour. ....
