The Suquamish Tribe announced the death of Nancy McPherson Wednesday afternoon, describing her as a treasured elder, and said her husband remained hospitalized in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The Kitsap County Sheriff s Office said McPherson was 74 years old.
“Nancy was a treasured member of our community and will be dearly missed,” the tribe s council said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with (her husband) and the rest of Nancy’s family.”
The two were flown with critical injuries to Seattle after they were hit by a vehicle while crossing Suquamish Way in a crosswalk near South Street and the House of Awakened Culture. Deputies determined that the driver of a minivan was driving south on Suquamish Way when he struck the two pedestrians.
