Boone County Sheriff's K-9 Loki honored during memorial service

Boone County Sheriff s K-9 Loki honored during memorial service BELVIDERE   Boone County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Loki was honored Saturday as a beloved member of law enforcement who had a successful career specializing in narcotics policing. Loki’s death last month in an alcohol-related traffic crash triggered an outpouring of grief during a funeral service outside of the Boone County Public Safety Building that was attended by officers from police departments across northern Illinois. “In a year where it seemed like the hits just keep on coming, it’s at times like these when you realize how much love and support there still is in communities like this one,” Boone County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Kevin Smyth said. “I think I can speak for everyone with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department when I say I have never been more proud to work for and serve this community.”
