The Berkshire Eagle Polidoro, who joined the department in 1988, retired in 2017, after contracting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, which is a progressive nervous system disease. He is survived by his wife, three children and three stepchildren. âIâve said this all along: Deputy Polidoro was a firefighterâs firefighter,â Sammons said. âHe was a guy you would look up to.
