EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - A new commission is being created in Evansville which aims at addressing food insecurity throughout the community.
The city council gave unanimous support of the measure Monday night.
This ordinance was unique because instead of only have two or three sponsors, it was backed by the entire body. 14 News talked to both members of council and the Mayor’s administration.
Recent events, like the ones put on by Feed Evansville, show the need in our community, which is an unexpected consequence, city leaders say, of the pandemic. ....

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Tons of trash is now gone from Woodland Park Apartments.
Trash first started piling up two weeks ago when the trash service
The apartment managers told us the trash service had a change in ownership, which caused the hiccup in service.
The city brought in a contractor to clean up this morning. They hauled away five tons of debris.
Code enforcement
previously flagged this property. But after that, the city had to wait a number of days before taking action. ....

St. Clair Township council will wait until mid-January to develop a new bylaw regarding the use of off-road vehicles in the township.
After some discussion about the issue on Dec. 21, council passed a motion to examine options regarding a new for its upcoming Jan. 18 meeting.

The results are in, and Julian Samuels has become the winner of the Town of Shelburne’s Deck the Doors contest.
Samuels, co-owner of local event planning business Paradise Hills Banquet Services, placed first in the contest after receiving more than 800 community votes. As the winner of the community contest she was award a $100 gift certificate for the African Caribbean Grocery Stores on Monday (Dec. 14), which was presented to her by Mayor Wade Mills and Deputy Mayor Steve Anderson.
“Thank you for coming out to support my local business Paradise Hills Banquet Services, it takes a lot to win but I came out victorious,” said Samuels. “I am so grateful.” ....
