Call for National Development plan review to engage with doctors’ representatives
New draft hospital consultant contracts received ‘only recently’
Surgeons in some parts of the country only have access to operating theatres for a half day a week, the Joint Committee on Health heard this morning at the latest Oireachtas discussions on the impact of Covid-19 on cancer services (June 2).
The meeting heard of the ‘double blow’ of Covid-19 and the cyberattack on cancer services, with effects forecast to last for five, 10 and 15 years into the future.
This was added to pre-Covid pressures of long waiting lists, access and capacity issues in addition to a shortage of consultants. ....
