Arrests made at public schools dipped 36 percent statewide during the last school year, according to the 2019-20 state Department of Education’s Safe Schools report.
The drop, mostly connected to the outbreak of COVID-19, might indicate that in a post-virus world the number and types of crimes reported at schools will look different in the next few reports as law enforcement officials learn how to respond to calls for help during a pandemic, state education officials and local law enforcement said. ....
