For junior Lindsey Hassel, a biosystems engineering degree offers the flexibility to pursue a variety of interests related to environmental and ecosystems engineering.
Lindsey Hassel knew she wanted to pursue her interest in the environment in college. But she also knew she wanted flexibility. A biosystems engineering degree from Michigan State University (MSU) offered both.
Junior Lindsey Hassel enjoys the flexibility of MSU s biosystems engineering major.
“What I liked most about biosystems engineering was it wasn t just environmental,” she said.  There were different pathways I could take within one major. That way, I was still making a decision that was going to set me on the right track, but it wasn’t like only one path was set for me.” ....

Younsuk Dong, specialist in the MSU Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, is leading a project to make sensors more accessible for farmers in Michigan and Indiana.

Younsuk Dong, specialist in the Michigan State University (MSU) Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, is leading a three-year, $426,000 project to increase adoption of a low-cost irrigation sensor monitoring system among farmers in Michigan and Indiana.
The project, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA NRCS), focuses on using sensor technology to help improve irrigation efficiency and manage plant diseases. ....
