ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Dr. Arif Alvi has asked the Department of Auditor General of Pakistan to strengthen the auditing mechanism by using technology and international best practices to improve service delivery and financial management.
He was chairing a briefing by Auditor General of Pakistan Javaid Jehangir, on reforms being undertaken by the DAGP, in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The President stressed the need for augmenting the culture of professionalism and ensuring better governance, improved transparency and accountability through effective internal control regime within the DAGP. ....

Pennsylvania on Tuesday inaugurated its first person of color to a statewide row office with the swearing-in of Tim DeFoor as the auditor general.
DeFoor, 59, took the oath of office administered by Superior Court Judge Carolyn Nichols, the only Black judge currently serving on the state’s appellate courts, before a crowd of nearly 50 people outside King Mansion in downtown Harrisburg in the county where he grew up.
In his remarks, DeFoor credited those who paved the way for him to make this mark in state history, men like the late Congressman John Lewis and the late Rev. C.T. Vivian, who championed racial and social justice. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee has taken notice of the Broadsheet saga and directed the auditor general of Pakistan for complete investigations into the matter.
The PAC sought reports from the auditor general of Pakistan and the National Accountability Bureau with regard to Broadsheet saga by January 19.
A meeting of the PAC was held on Thursday with its Chairman Rana Tanveer Hussain in the chair in which the audit paras related to the Ministry of Interior for the year 2019-20 were examined. The PAC took notice of the Broadsheet story on the demand of Senator Sherry Rehman and other members of the committee. ....
