The New Commonwealth fund â launched by Black and brown Boston business executives to eliminate systemic racism â has scored another big donation: $1 million from Robert Kraft.
It is the largest donation from an individual to a fund that has raised nearly $30 million since July, largely from Boston-area corporations and their foundations. Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, hopes his donation during Black History Month will spur others to make substantial contributions to the fund.

Blue Shield of California today announced Myechia Minter-Jordan, M.D., MBA, has joined its board of directors, making the governing body of the nonprofit health plan a majority of women for the first time in its 82-year history.

Dr. Minter-Jordan is president and CEO of DentaQuest Partnership for Oral Health Advancement and Catalyst Institute, a nonprofit organization working to improve overall health of individuals, families and communities through better oral health. She also co-founded the Community Care Collaborative, the nation’s largest Medicaid Accountable Care Organization comprised of 19 Federally-Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) in Massachusetts serving over 100,000 patients.

Itâs 2020 and, believe it or not, we have some good news.
For too long, Virginia had been one of the 14 states that chose not to include coverage of preventive dental care for adults enrolled in the state Medicaid plan, opting to cover only emergency dental services. This generally meant that the only dental services Medicaid paid for were emergency tooth extractions, causing many individuals to live with an uncomfortable or unhealthy mouth â until now.
Thatâs because this past month, the General Assembly acted to provide preventive dental benefits to adults who rely on Medicaid for their health insurance coverage.
