A BIT of elbow grease isn’t nearly enough to discourage activists in Easterhouse from reclaiming their area from a surge in fly-tipping. Every weekend for almost one year, Denmilne Community Action Group have out blitzing backcourts, pathways and streets from rubbish and clutter. With sleeves rolled up and pickets by their side, residents have been taking matters into their own hands. Dennis Docherty, who is the Chairman of the group, said: “It was Covid that more or less got us out and about every weekend. “We started by picking up rubbish and doing general clean-ups. There wasn’t much maintenance as the areas we were visiting were mostly privately owned.
