Branded and own-label supplier Remia boosting foodservice custom Remia, the Netherlands-based ketchup and mayo maker, has acquired operations that manufacture edible oils and fats for foodservice customers from Belgian ingredients group Wouters. Financial terms were not disclosed. Wouters has a strong position in the Belgian foodservice market, where Remia itself plays a limited role, Remia general director Karel de Rooij said. With this step, we give a nice boost to our position in the Benelux. Remia said the deal would improve its presence in the foodservice markets of Belgium and France, with the company eyeing cafeteria and chip-shop customers. The company said Wouters production of oils and fats would be gradually transferred to its own factory in the Dutch town of Den Dolder in the coming months . ....

January 29, 2021 Dutch police have picked up a further 24 people for taking part in or inciting riots over the past few days, but Thursday night passed off peacefully nationwide, officials say. In total, 72 people have now been arrested in connection with the Eindhoven riots on Sunday, and more arrests are likely, police said on Friday. The Oost-Brabant police force has sequestered cars, money, bank accounts and even salaries from some of the people arrested in connection with the disturbances. Police say they want to ensure that eventual claims for damages can be paid by the perpetrators themselves. The property remains in public prosecution department hands and will only be returned if the suspects are eventually found not guilty. ....
