As the 59th Electoral College met at the Statehouse in Trenton, New Jersey Chief Justice Stuart Rabner
swore in the electors.
“We are privileged as New Jersey electors to select the overwhelming choice of the voters in our great state,” Murphy said.
The electors backed Biden and then Vice President-elect Kamala Harris in separate voice votes, and then filled out paper ballots. Applause followed when Murphy announced the results.
The electors were chosen in the Nov. 3 election. Biden polled 57% of the vote in New Jersey to 41% for President Donald Trump.
