Labour Deputy Leader Daren Hale has been re-elected in St Andrews and Docklands ward for Hull City Council.
The Labour incumbent won with 1186 votes an an increased majority. Liberal Democrat Tracy Henry won 723, Conservative Malcolm Pearson 230, Green Ian Bartholomew 99, Trade Union and Socialist Coalition s Paul Spooner 40, For Britain s Barry McGrath 48 and Independent Simon Pickering 67.
It has been a nervous start for Labour after the party s vote collapsed at the Hartlepool by-election overnight with the Tories celebrating their first MP in the town for decades. The Conservatives were also making gains at local councils across England.
