Frankly. we re in an area called the del mar loop in university city, just outside of st. louis, near the washington university campus, and it really has the feel of a typical sunday afternoon, except for things like this. businesses along the street here, a couple dozen of them, according to police, that were vandalized last night. five police vehicles vandalized. ten people arrested. this came at the end of a day of peaceful protests, most of the protesters in fact had gone home, but a few people remained at the peak, about 150, according to police, and a lot of the business owners had gone home, only to come back and find this. heartbreaking. my wife runs the cafe and works hard and works hard to make this a place that feels like part of the community, so it hurts. people obviously should be able to protest, but this is not the productive side of that. ....
