DEFIANCE CITY COUNCIL APPROVES PURCHASE OF PROPERTY FOR WETLANDS PROJECT

At the Tuesday meeting of Defiance City Council, an ordinance was approved authorizing the purchase of property on the east side of the city for a wetlands project. The 50-acre parcel is off East River Drive, and would create a wetlands for recreation and education.
There was a first reading on legislation to hire a consultant to help market the newly purchased building and property that’s part of the 1918 Defiance City School parcel on the south end of the downtown. The location is 629 Arabella Street, with the charge for the consulting service to be determined by a percentage of the total investment by the new developer. ....

DEFIANCE, Ohio Less than two years after launch, the city of Defiance may see an expansion to their Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, known as the Defiance Outdoor Refreshment Area within the city.
The 96-acre DORA kicked off in Defiance in July 2019 and was initially a big success.
Then, the DORA helped keep downtown businesses afloat during the summer and fall of 2020.
Now Kirstie Mack, executive director of the Defiance Development and Visitors Bureau, has proposed to expand the boundaries of their DORA by an additional 18 acres. ....
