Latest campus remodel goes global, planning begins on Mansfield Library


The Mansfield Library’s fourth floor may begin to look different in the coming months, as plans for remodeling have begin bringing the Defense Critical Language and Culture Program to campus. 
The DCLCP is one of eight language learning centers in the United States financed by a federal grant. The program teaches languages “critical” to national security interests — such as Korean, French and Arabic — to individuals involved with the government and military. 
The Board of Regents approved an expense request from the University of Montana at its January meeting for up to $2.5 million for the project. The remodel may also move the Global Leadership Initiative from the University Center to the library’s fourth floor.  ....

Here we are: Missoula campus group brings diversity to the outdoors


Here Montana, a BIPOC — Black/Indigenous/people of color — program run through the Missoula Parks and Recreation Department gets people outdoors.
The 20 participants stood in a circle, their bundled snow clothes and keen energy keeping them warm. Whirling snow fell from the sky dusting their hats and scarves. Fog obscured the surrounding mountains.
Other cross-country skiers passed by the group, towing sleds or getting towed by leashed dogs on their way to the links of the University of Montana Golf Course.
