Filing ends for April election: Here's who is running in Lindbergh, Mehlville, Sunset Hills, Green Park – St. Louis Call Newspapers


Candidate filing closed Tuesday for a number of governmental positions that are up for election April 6, setting up several competitive races across South County. One of the trends this year is that many incumbents did not file to run again, so there are a number of new faces across local city and school boards.
Filing began at 8 a.m. Dec. 15, and ran through 5 p.m. Jan. 19.
The Mehlville fire board and the Green Park mayoral seat will see competitive races this year. Incumbent fire board Treasurer Bonnie Stegman is being challenged by a former firefighter.
Aldermanic seats in Crestwood, Green Park and Sunset Hills are also up for election, along with three seats on the Grantwood Village Board of Trustees. Green Park and Crestwood will have a number of new faces on the Board of Aldermen, but no competitive races, while Sunset Hills will have competitive races in all four wards. And for the first time in recent memory, Grantwood Village will have competitive races.  ....

First day of filing for April election highlighted by many newcomers, competitive Green Park mayoral race


Filing began at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, and will continue through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19.
The Green Park mayoral seat will have a competitive race, and aldermanic seats in Crestwood, Green Park and Sunset Hills are also up for election, along with one seat on the Grantwood Village Board of Trustees. Seats on the Mehlville fire board and Lindbergh, Mehlville and Affton boards of education also are up for election.

The seat held by Treasurer Bonnie Stegman on the Mehlville Fire Protection District’s Board of Directors will be up for election, and Stegman filed Tuesday morning to run for a fourth term after 15 years on the board. ....

Contentious new ethics code passes in 2020


One of the most contentious bills passed by the Sunset Hills Board of Aldermen this year instituted a code of ethics that applies to all elected and appointed officials, and uses the board itself as the judging panel when an ethics complaint is filed.
The code passed 5-3 in January, with Ward 3 Aldermen Kurt Krueger and Nathan Lipe, Ward 4 Aldermen Thompson Price and Mark Colombo and Ward 2 Alderman Steve Bersche voting in favor, and Ward 2 Alderman Casey Wong and Ward 1 Aldermen Ann McMunn and Dee Baebler opposed. Krueger lost a bid for re-election in June, and Baebler resigned when she moved out of the city in September. ....
