Lexington City Schools year-round calendar discussion fizzles out
The Dispatch
The discussion on year-round school by the Lexington City Schools Board of Education dissolved into thin air after a failed motion to request local state representatives to draft a local bill allowing flexibility when it comes to school calendars.
At their January meeting, LCS school board members requested information on the legal parameters of a non-traditional or balanced school calendar, with the possibility of starting as early as the next school year.
The idea of year-round school or a “balanced” calendar is not a new concept, which was previously scheduled to begin during the 2017-2018 school year but was rescinded in March of that year four months before it was scheduled to begin.
