Palm Coast has agreed to pay $12,500 to its former human resources director to settle a lawsuit she filed against the city alleging the city reneged on a severance agreement. Besides the $12,500 settlement, Debbie Streichsbier will retain all sums paid to her after the end of her employment, according to the settlement agreement. The settlement does not specify what those sums were. But Streichsbier was paid $17,520 for accrued sick pay, administrative leave and vacation after she was fired from the city. The city then fired an employee who authorized the payment to Streichsbier, saying she had done so without approval from City Manager Matt Morton. ....
A judge on Wednesday ordered the city of Palm Coast to clear up some of its legal claims in its court battle against a former human resources director who is accusing the city of breaking an agreement to pay her severance pay. Former human resources director Debbie Streichsbier filed the lawsuit in June in Flagler County Circuit Court in which she said the city agreed to pay her $36,000 for four months of severance pay along with four months of health care premiums in exchange for her resignation in a severance agreement on March 20. She claims the city reneged on that promise and fired her four days later. ....
