State I fire restrictions will be in effect as of Thursday, June 29, in 42 square miles of Prescott and Prescott Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, Chino Valley and Paulden, according to Central Arizona Fire and Medical (CAFMA) and Prescott Fire Department (PFD).
The Crooks Fire burning south of Prescott is still at 1600 acres and zero percent contained. KNAU’s Melissa Sevigny reports, several areas remain under evacuation orders.
A wildfire south of Prescott has triggered evacuations of some small communities. Heavy winds and very dry conditions have created critical fire weather throughout the region.
