This weekend in the Adirondacks: Be prepared if you're headed outdoors

A Winter Ski and Snowshoe Adventure, Destination: Camp Santanoni. Newcomb NY. Archive Photo of the Day by Nancie Battaglia. Jan 21, 2021 If you are planning on heading out this weekend, watch the weather closely. Prepare for the worst-case scenario, especially if you are headed to remote areas.  Deep snow is expected in Northern Herkimer and Hamilton Counties and snow squalls expected around the Adirondacks can quickly reduce visibility to zero, making travel impossible.  Be prepared.  An extreme wind chill warning is in place for tonight and much of Saturday at higher elevations, where windy conditions will be the rule this weekend. Temperatures on summits are not expected to rise above zero on Saturday, and will remain in the single digits Sunday. Wind chill temperatures on summits are forecast to be in the low 30s, below zero on Saturday, and single digits below zero on Sunday.
