Family of victim in infamous Oklahoma murder lashes out at Netflix

The family of a murdered Ada woman is blaming Netflix now that both murder convictions in the infamous 1984 case have been thrown out. “It has sickened us to see what has been done over the past few years to distort, mislead and outright lie about the facts of the case,” the victim's family said Friday in a statement sent to the media. The victim, Donna Denice Haraway, disappeared from the McAnally's convenience store in Ada on April 28, 1984. The newlywed college student worked as a clerk there at night. She was 24. Her remains were found more than a year later in a field near Gerty, about 30 miles away. She had been shot in the head.

'It hit home, man': Muskogee copes with shock of mass shooting

MUSKOGEE On the front porch of a small house in this eastern Oklahoma town, a collection of candles, balloons and stuffed animals is growing by the day. The makeshift memorial expanded Thursday around noon when a family of seven parked their minivan in front of the house, stepped into a snapping wind and gently added their own tokens of grief and respect. Timothy Goforth and Brittany Lorimer, who have five children and a baby on the way, visited the house in the wake of a mass shooting early Tuesday in which a man and five children were killed. “It hit home, man,” Goforth said. “It’s the kids. We were just honest with them. You just have to tell the truth.

Jury finds Robert Leon Hashagen III guilty of murdering 94-year-old OKC woman

On the morning of July 5, 2013, Evelyn Goodall, a 94-year-old gardener and avid bird-watcher, spoke some of the last words of her life moments after an intruder beat her severely. “Hurry, hurry. I’m dying,” she told an emergency dispatcher. “Please send the police. Please hurry. I’m bleeding to death.” Two days after the attack, Goodall died at a hospital from blunt force trauma, according to the state medical examiner. On Tuesday, a jury convicted Robert Leon Hashagen III, 57, of felony murder in the commission of a burglary. The jury recommended a sentence of life in prison with parole, but Hashagen likely won't live long enough to become eligible.
