Helena s home prices soared and inventory tanked last year, as more out-of-state buyers scooped up property in rural areas due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the city of Helena and a 15-mile radius, 1,112 sales were reported in 2020 with a median price of $317,000, according to Shaun Moore of Moore Appraisal Firm. In 2019, 1,150 sales were reported with an average sale price of $280,000. Even smaller houses have surprisingly high prices, Moore said. Some of that has to do with inventory.
Moore said most homes sold in 2020 have three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Two-bedroom starter homes are less common, with only 103 sold in 2020 at a median price of $230,000. Moore said there are currently four two-bedroom homes for sale. These homes also are seeing inflated prices over previous years.
KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Tuesday, the City of Kalamazoo issued a Boil Water Advisory for the area of Ira Avenue due to crews repairing a water main leak.
While this advisory is in effect, area residents should either use bottled water or boil water for at least two minutes before drinking it or using it for other consumptive purposes.
No extra precautions need to be taken for hygienic purposes.
The affected areas are listed as follows:
Ira Avenue â From East Main Street (northern boundary) to Dearborn Avenue (southern boundary), both sides of the street. Does NOT include the northwest and northeast corners of Ira Avenue and Dearborn Avenue.
Kalamazoo initiates boil water advisory for part of city

KALAMAZOO, MI - While the city of Kalamazoo repairs a water main leak, it has issued a boil water advisory for affected areas.
The water main leak affects Fenimore Avenue from Dearborn Avenue to Charles Avenue on both sides of the street, according to a news release from the city and the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department. Exceptions include the southwest and southeast corner of Fenimore and Dearborn Avenues, as well as the northwest corner of Fenimore and Charles. The southwest corner of Chicago Avenue and Kenilworth Avenue is also affected.
