United 1994/5 team won the Division Three title and reached Wembley for the first time in the club s history
A much-anticipated reunion of Carlisle United’s 1994/5 promotion and Wembley heroes is back ON.
The stars who won Division Three and reached Wembley for the first time in the Blues’ history are returning to the city in the autumn.
The sell-out event to mark the campaign s 25th anniversary was postponed last year because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
But fans will be able to relive that unforgettable season at a rearranged event on Saturday October 9.
The reunion – set to be held at Harraby Catholic Club – will see a host of former Blues favourites on stage to reminisce about the campaign which will also forever be associated with the iconic green, red and white “deckchair” away kit. ....

Legends and current stars to feature on flags after Carlisle United fans' fundraising


Twenty former Blues favourites feature on one of the banners
Legends of Carlisle United spanning eight decades, plus the club’s current promotion-chasing stars, will feature on two huge banners at Brunton Park.
Designs have been revealed for two of the massive flags which will be displayed at the ground after a brilliant £5,000 fundraising effort by fans.
One features a collection of some of the club’s greatest and most popular players, accompanied by the club’s logo and the words ‘We are Carlisle United’.
Another celebrates the current team, including a number of players and head coach Chris Beech. ....

TYNEDALE footballer Gareth McAlindon was a popular member of Carlisle United s first team during his spell at Brunton Park during the 1990s.
In the second instalment of an interview with sister paper News & Star, the Hexham man, who has battled cancer, looks back on his time with the Cumbrians and his role in developing United s current leading scorer.
Gareth McAlindon made 71 appearances, scoring 10 goals, earning a Division Three promotion winner’s medal under Mervyn Day in 1997 and playing in a couple of absorbing League Cup ties the following season, setting up a goal for Andy Couzens in a 3-2 first-leg defeat at White Hart Lane against a Tottenham side including Sol Campbell and David Ginola. ....
