About one in three brumbies trapped as part of the Berejiklian government’s plan to cut feral horse numbers in the Kosciuszko National Park is being released rather than rehomed because of animal welfare issues.
The data, supplied by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, comes as the government prepares a new horse plan for comment. NSW’s economy could be $50 million better off annually if numbers dropped, a report commissioned by the Invasive Species Council says.
