BENNINGTON â A community fund drive will be conducted in February with the goal of raising $500,000 to assist in planning and implementing reuse and redevelopment efforts for the former Southern Vermont College campus and its buildings.
David Newell, a member of the collegeâs board of trustees prior to its closure in 2019, and Michael McKenna, of D.B. McKenna & Co. financial advisors, proposed the idea to Southwestern Vermont Health Care, which acquired the campus through a bankruptcy auction in December.
The SVHC Foundation, which raises money for the nonprofit health care organization, will oversee the fund drive and collect donations for an account designated toward long-term campus planning and development work.
