Greater Noida: A team of top Noida officials and the Jewar MLA on Monday visited the site for the upcoming Noida International Airport to finalise the location for the foundation stone laying ceremony and the bhoomi pujan. While the spot has been inspected, the date is still being kept under wraps, with officials only confirming that the big-ticket event will take place at the end of August. The inspection was carried out in the village of Ranhera. The team members included Arun Vir Singh, the CEO of Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), the government’s special purpose vehicle for the Jewar airport project, police commissioner Alok Singh, and Jewar MLA Dhirender Singh.

Noida: More than 80% of the entire work and rehabilitation process have been already achieved in Jewar Bangar, a township being built to rehabilitate the families of the seven villages displaced by the Jewar airport project. And over 2,400 of the 3,003 affected families have already vacated their houses in these villages. This was conveyed to senior bureaucrats by officials of the district administration at a crucial review meeting on Thursday that was ordered on the first day of the month to ensure that everything is resolved by July 15. Officials said the villages of Nagla Ganeshi, Nagla Phoolkan and Kishorepur have been completely vacated while only a handful of families in Dayanatpur Khera are left. Being the largest village, only half the families in Rohi have moved out. Majority of people in Nagla Shareef Khan and Nagla Chitar have also shifted. Greater Noida: The rehabilitation of all displaced families, without which work on the first phase of the Noida airport project cannot start, is expected to be completed by July 15. On Wednesday, Meerut divisional commissioner Surendra Singh visited the six villages where the proposed Jewar airport will come up, to monitor the progress of the rehabilitation process. Nearly 600 of the over 3,000 families have partially been moved from their homes, out of which a majority of the families are from Nagla Ganeshi, Nagla Phoolkan and Dayanatpur Khera villages. In the first phase, officials have to get all the six villages vacated to organise the foundation stone laying ceremony for the Noida International Airport project. Meanwhile, villagers have said they are not being given time to complete the construction of their houses in Jewar Bangar township and are instead being asked to shift immediately.
