Former Ohio State wide receiver Michael Thomas was selected with a second round pick by the New Orleans Saints in the 2016 draft. Thomas had at least 90 receptions and over 1,000 yards in each of his first four seasons. He led the league in receptions in 2018 and 2019, setting an NFL single-season record with 149 receptions in 2019.
Thomas domination of NFL defensive backs was put on pause in 2020, when he suffered a severe ankle injury during the season opener. The injury forced him to miss nine games and severely limited his effectiveness when he did play. Without the best wide receiver in the league, the New Orleans passing attack struggled with consistency in 2020.

The New Orleans Saints owned the league s 5th ranked pass defense in 2020. Much of the reason for the lofty ranking was an improved secondary. The Saints led the NFL with 18 interceptions and allowed opposing quarterbacks to complete less than 60% of their attempts.
Cornerbacks Marshon Lattimore and Janoris Jenkins formed one of the league s best tandems. They routinely shut down the best wideouts in the NFL, allowing the team to be more aggressive with their coverage packages. Lattimore and Jenkins combined for 5 interceptions, 23 passes broken up, and just 55.7% completion percentage when targeted.

The 32-Yr old Davis, a nine-year veteran, has led his squad in tackles for the last three seasons. He is a devastating blitzer and standout in coverage, along with being an elite sideline-to-sideline defender.

The New Orleans Saints have had terrific success finding receiving talent in the late rounds of the draft or as undrafted free agents. One of the best players in New Orleans franchise history, Marques Colston, was a 7th round choice in the 2006 draft out of Hofstra. Lance Moore, Willie Snead, and Brandon Coleman were players that went undrafted who managed to have success with the team.
Last season, Michael Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, and Tre Quan Smith were the only receivers on the roster that were drafted. Wideouts Deonte Harris, Marquez Callaway, Juwan Johnson, and Lil Jordan Humphrey were former undrafted players that received significant playing time.

Marshon Lattimore has been one of the NFL s best cornerbacks since the New Orleans Saints selected him with the 11th overall pick of the 2017 draft. Lattimore has consistently shut down the league s top receivers in one-on-one assignments. That ability has allowed the Saints to be more aggressive with their defensive packages.
New Orleans picked up CB Janoris Jenkins late in the 2019 season. Jenkins paired with Lattimore to give the Saints one of the league s best tandem of corners. The duo helped New Orleans lead the NFL in interceptions and finish 5th in pass defense, their highest ranking since 2013.
