In the last half hour the leader of kensington and Chelsea Council, the borough where the Grenfell Tower fire happened, has resigned. Nicholas paget brown said he had to accept responsibility for his role in the response to the fire, and in particular for the decision to ban the public and press from a Council Meeting last night. The bbc has also obtained documents that show that cheaper, less fire resistant cladding was chosen for the tower block. 80 people are believed to have died in the fire, and there is no suggestion a deliberate decision was made to cut fire safety.
