Dr. James iredell robertson junior associate professor of Civil War History at Virginia Tech. He is the author or editor of various books, including shifting grounds, nationalism and the american south, which won the British Association for american studies but prize, the book prize the jefferson , davis award for the museum of the confederacy, and the albert lee sturm award. His work has appeared in journals such as the journal of southern history and the journal of the civil war era.
