Resolution Calling On Governor To End School, Business Lockdowns Fails To Pass Los Alamos County Council [email protected] The resolution calling on the Governor and state health officials to end the school and business lockdown failed to pass during Tuesday night’s Los Alamos County Council meeting. Councilor David Reagor introduced the resolution. The motion to pass the resolution failed to pass 1-6 with Reagor casting the sole vote in favor of it. According to the resolution, the lockdown should end to ensure the “social and mental health of the Los Alamos community”. Furthermore, Reagor argued in his resolution that the public health orders and school closures “cause significant harm to low-income students with poor internet service and have shown in other states to have little benefit”. ....
Council Weighs Whether To Purchase Reel Deal, CB FOX [email protected] The CB FOX and Reel Deal buildings are empty but the possibilities are endless for what could go into these properties, Los Alamos County Council learned Tuesday night during its regular work session Los Alamos County is in a 90-day due-diligence period with the owners of these properties, Tigard Pacific RE, LLC and Trinity Los Alamos, LLC, as it weighs whether to purchase these two properties. Public Works Director Anne Laurent reported that there is 30 days left in the due diligence period. The presentation made Tuesday night served as a “check in point” for the due diligence process. A final report will be given to council at its March 16 meeting. ....
Los Alamos County Emergency Manager Updates Council On COVID Vaccination Status By KIRSTEN LASKEY [email protected] The COVID-19 situation in Los Alamos is beginning to improve and County Emergency Manager Beverley Simpson reported during the Jan. 26 regular council meeting on efforts underway to administer vaccines to the local community. Regarding vaccinations already administered, Simpson said Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) provided 407 vaccines to staff to date and expected to provide an additional 100 vaccines last week. Additionally, she reported that the number of onsite workers at LANL was at 35 percent. Los Alamos Medical Center has inoculated 420 individuals and expected to vaccinate 60 more last week. Simpson said the vaccine supply of vaccinations to the hospital had been delayed but was expected to arrive Jan. 27. ....
2020 Unprecedented Year For Los Alamos County By KIRSTEN LASKEY [email protected] 2020 was a tumultuous year and when it ends at midnight today, a loud sigh of relief may very well be heard throughout Los Alamos County. Despite all the challenges the pandemic threw at the County, there were numerous accomplishments and highlights experienced in 2020. “As 2020 comes to a close, I would like to thank all of our residents for their support, patience and understanding as the County worked through the challenges and adaptations needed because of the COVID-19 pandemic,” County Manager Harry Burgess said. “I would also like to send a big thank you to our employees for their resiliency, creativity, hard work and dedication to continuing to provide day-to-day services that our community has come to expect from Los Alamos County government.” ....

During its regular meeting, Los Alamos County Council approved 6-1, Councilor Katrina Martin was opposed, to enter into a purchase agreement with the current owners of the properties, which is Tigard Pacific RE, LLC and Trinity Los Alamos, LLC. Both are limited liability companies based in Colorado. ....
