March 10, 2021 MACOMB, IL Western Illinois University s student-run, broadcast news station, NEWS3, won Best College TV Station, and sports media and NEWS3 won two individual awards on March 6 at the annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Media Awards. I am incredibly proud of the students when they win awards, but especially during a pandemic, which made producing the news more challenging, said Broadcasting and Journalism Instructor and News Director Jessica M. Martin. The resiliency of the students in our program is incredible, and I cannot wait to see what they do next. NEWS3, the student-run television news station, won Best College TV Station overall.
