2 soldiers killed in two separate incidents at Camp-15, Budi County
At least two soldiers were killed by unidentified armed men in the Camp 15 area of Budi County in Eastern Equatoria State on Saturday last week.
The soldiers whose names have not been revealed were reportedly escorting cattle and vehicles from different places.
One of the deceased soldiers was among others escorting animals from Kapoeta to Torit through Camp 15 when they fell into an ambush. According to authorities, 14 head of cattle were also stolen but later recovered.
Alfred Odong, Budi County Executive Director said, “Yes, we also learned of that. You know Camp 15 is far away from us here (Chukudum). We understand one soldier was killed, the escort of one of the lorries. Those people who took the cattle from here so they escorted the cows and got shot just within Camp 15 at that small stream.”

Eastern Equatoria State officials have condemned the killing of a Ugandan aid worker by unknown gunmen on Wednesday in Budi County.
According to them, Amono Clara, a nurse by profession, was shot dead when the vehicle she was in, a part of CORDAID s convoy of four vehicles came under attack between Camp 15 and Chukudum road in Budi County.
Greater Kapoeta Secretary-General David Eriga told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that the incident occurred at around 10:30 am on Wednesday.
“Four NGO vehicles were moving, the last one was shot at killing one woman. She is from Gulu, she is dead. She was in the front seat. People still have to follow the footmarks and establish the facts whether they are Didinga or they are Buya or Logir, he said.
Security forces ready to provide safety during the festive season
The Inspector-General of the South Sudan National Police Service, General Majak Akech Malok, has said the police and other security forces will be deployed in all suburbs and highways in and around Juba to beef up and ensure security in the capital ahead of the festive season.
“As organized forces of our beloved Republic of South Sudan, we are ready to protect you, the civilians, and your properties as our responsibility to the nation and that you should celebrate in peace,” Akech said. “Be sure that we are ready to beef up the security in the Republic of South Sudan, particularly capital Juba. The necessary measures have been taken to safeguard the wellbeing of civilians and their properties during the festive season.”
